It describes the role of an Indian business leader in the struggle for independence before 1947 and his close relationship with the legendary Mahatma Gandhi. He provides an opportunity to see the impact of colonialism on the formation of Indian entrepreneurship and the role of the small Marwari group, originally from the Marwar region of Rajasthan, in founding many of India’s major business establishments, including Bajaj. . The Bajaj were like other Marwari merchants that went into production after World War I, including making sugar and rolling steel.
