Wellington Global Impact

Case Solution

Harvard Business School ()

Wellington Global Impact is one of the first public equity impact investment strategies on the market. The case examines how the strategy developed in Wellington, including an analysis of the culture that supported its development. It also examines the difficulties involved in marketing the strategy as a first step and an effort to demonstrate that the investment can have both positive financial and social returns. The protagonists Eric Rice and Patrick Kent must find ways to demonstrate that impact is possible through a public market vehicle and the rigorous financial, impact and ESG analysis involved in developing the Strategy have been incorporated. Students know concepts related to corporate strategy, portfolio building, risk management, marketing, and impact investing.
