In February 2018, the Dean of the College of Social Sciences at East Coast University in Eastern Canada faced the challenge of managing a protest from one of his professors. Tensions had been brewing between the two for several months over inappropriate spending reports and complaints of sexual harassment. However, due to the nature of the dean’s appointment, he was in a weak position and could not rely on his superiors to solve the problem. As a result, donors complained, prospective students changed their minds about the application, and presidents began to complain. The dean wondered what to do to get his school back to normal.
