In an investment firm, Case A represents the president going through a review process with the firm’s portfolio managers. It would appear that the financial prowess and skill of Fred Silverton had made the amazing mutual fund company a success. The case cuts across issues and actions that directly affect Silverton. Despite Silverton’s success, there were some who were alarmed by its approach to human capital. However, the president sees Silverton in the race to broaden his range. While reviewing Silverton’s behavior at work, the president must decide if there is a problem or if Silverton is simply crossing the line but has not. Does Silverton see that he has a problem with the way his behavior affects others?
