Londell McMillan focused on the music on his headphones, the latest offering from his friend and longtime client Prince Rogers Nelson, the artist known as “Prince.” McMillan and Prince had spent several days thinking of a strategy for releasing Musicology, Prince’s latest album. As McMillan reflected on his discussions, the contagious music on his headphones underscored the enormous commercial potential of this project. However, to realize the full value of this potential, McMillan would have to work with Prince to design and execute a carefully crafted plan for the album’s marketing and distribution.
