The IDS Group was a provider of supply chain solutions. IDS is based in Asia and was founded by William Fung of the global trading company Li & Fung Group and has developed a supply chain concept called “Value Chain Logistics”. Value Chain Logistics took a holistic view of the entire value chain by positioning logistics as the fundamental pioneer for maximum efficiency and responsiveness in all steps – from production to sales to the end user. Given the geosocial diversity of various Asian markets, companies often face sales challenges when trying to provide high-quality products at a reasonable cost to their end users. As a pioneer of this new supply chain concept, IDS had helped its customers achieve lower overall supply chain costs while meeting dynamic customer needs. In this case, real examples from IDS customers were used to illustrate the concept of value chain logistics.
