The International Services Group (ISG) serves global and local clients with accounting solutions. Thanks to a very proactive management culture at the local affiliate level, ISG has grown significantly in recent decades. While this growth was good, it also generated certain inefficiencies. ISG’s CEO now wants to transform the organization from a local responsive structure to a globally integrated one by introducing global accounting software. The case describes how the implementation meeting, which was conducted as a video conference, failed. The case deals with cross-border leadership issues in functional, cultural, hierarchical and geographic areas and sheds light on the change management side.
