This case study describes how Fiat Brasil developed a collaborative platform that combines crowdsourcing, open innovation and creative commons to create a “futuristic concept vehicle” called the Fiat Mio. Over a period of 15 months, the Fiat Mio team managed interactions with 17,000 participants of 160 different nationalities and the selection and processing of more than 11,000 ideas. When the Fiat Mio was unveiled at the Sao Paulo Auto Show in December 2010, hundreds of people turned out to claim the prototype.
