Facebook was one of many social networking websites (such as MySpace.com) launched in 2004. Facebook was an open access website that allowed users to connect and interact with others. Facebook was extremely popular with millions of active users. Of course, it can be embarrassing to post questionable content on your own Facebook page. In this case, the director of the consulting firm Miranda Shaw tries to choose between two highly qualified applicants for a position at her firm. She tends to hire a candidate until she finds photos on her Facebook page of them engaging in inappropriate activities (cold smoking, etc.) during college. Shaw is no longer sure of his decision. This case provides a short and easy way to get into the privacy and other issues of social networking sites.
