In 2015, the New York Times published an article that depicted Amazon as a ruthless employer with brutal human resource management practices and a toxic work atmosphere. The opinions of the employees were divided; some found the culture stimulating and others had a hard time surviving. Industry leaders defended Amazon as employees at other companies began revealing their own experiences with toxic work environments. Could Amazon continue to grow, prosper, and retain employees if it maintains its current employee management strategy? Did stress promote innovation and, if so, when did this stress become destructive?
